Zac Posen is one of those designers that I have always admired but for one reason or another I have never featured him on the blog. I loved his collection for Target that debut about 3 years ago and the Z Spoke line is the perfect blend for a diffusion line. Posen has such large following in the Fashion industry and his years of experience show in his powerful collections. What happened last night was refection of power in fashion with every top model walking the show debuting his Spring 2013 collection marking his territory one more time as top American designer. All day I have been thinking about the collection and I already read some reviews and some have not been so positive. Yes, I agree with the constant review that it was not something out of the Posen market but we can all agree the man has his own touch and esthetic that cannot be replicated.
When first looking at the collection my immediate reaction was Valentino, there is a bit of that Valentino flowing of the dresses and color pallet that could not be overlooked. It might have been those strong red looks on the runway or the organza silk knee length dresses but there was definitely a bit of the Valentino touch in this collection. Posen concentrated mostly on the evening wear in this collection, with gowns for every movie star under the Hollywood lights to wear at premiers and award shows. Ending the show with Coco Rocha walking out in the wedding gown gave the collection a complete ending to a glamour collection with a haute couture finish. Posen will continue to dominate on the fashion scene but he is not the type of designer to go out there and create a complete sportswear collection. Bad reviews and all this collection will continue will sell to the Zac Posen clients and will be successful among high end retailers.
Cool to see you still have your blog going. I like the diverse use of color in that show.
