Givenchy: American Man

Blogging is something I enjoy doing and honestly I have missed it, but now I’m back on track. I think a lot had to do with my last post of MIA (Not fashion related) and in a way it inspired me again. I have mentioned before how much I really enjoy Cathy Horyn from the New York Times and she explains what a person should do with blog and now I'm taking notes and starting over in a way. When I started the blog I said this would be a journey and for sure so much has already changed. That being said I will share some of my thoughts of collections and just blog more about exciting news and fun activities I’ve been doing.

I know most of you fashion lovers already saw the menswear shows online, both Milan and Paris but there are still some that I can’t get out of my head. Givenchy is the first that comes to mind, maybe it’s this love obsession I have for Riccardo Tisci but the man knows his shit. The first couple pictures brought me back to a Rick Owens show, with the hard edge goth men walking down the runway each wearing a heavy nose rings. I’m not sure if anyone will be rocking those next season but I would for sure would like to see someone wear them. Then came America; with Letterman jackets, blended leather and many many stars. I was surprise to see the pleated skirts come back this season for the menswear collection but I guess they are here to stay. The leather leggings and embellish sweaters gave the collection a sense of bondage, and in my mind when we talk leather then we talk sexy. Overall I see how this was Tisci interpretation of America, the play on the flag and the over use of starts really made the collection stand out. My favorite pieces by far were the embellish sweaters towards the end; I could see those being a huge seller for Givenchy.

Bad Girls

I have always been a huge music fan but rarely get impressed by music videos now days. Today I went on twitter and saw the news about the new MIA video “Bad Girls” and Madonna’s “Give Me All Your Luvin’” and I was blown away. In my opinion Madonna can’t do wrong, and with MIA and Nicki Minaj the music video was even better. The song is catchy and I can still hear it in the back of my head, but this post is not about Madonna’s video but instead MIA. Most of you that might know me, know I have always been a huge MIA fan but this last video blew me away. Talk about innovation, I haven’t seen a video like this in such a long time. The song is called “Bad Girls” and it captures the essence of what a bad girl is. The toughness of the desert setting elevates what MIA sings about, honestly this video needs some recognition and I hope it wins some awards.
