Celine: All About a Coat

I don’t think I have ever talked about Celine, but there has never been a reason to. Okay not in that way, obviously Celine is a strong fashion house that does not need me talking about it on this blog but I don’t know this season the use of the coats were just so organic it needed some attention on BOOM. Phoebe Philo is known for her work at Celine. I think we all know about the work she has done with the handbags and the strong celebrity following has been influential to many designers, but this season she outdid herself with the knit and coat work. I hate to overuse the word minimalist but this is what minimalist is all about. Not like what Raf Simons did for Jil Sanders but a different, the clothes just feel feminine.

The collection is strong, the bags are strong, it just feels sophisticated without the need of overdesigning. When you think of Celine, we don’t think of crazy patterns of overworked clothes. The clothes are made for women who are ready to wear them out. These women work in power possession, running a company and bossing hundred of people around. It is kind of hard to explain, its more of a feeling the clothes give out. Who would have thought a good coat would make such a strong impression but that is what fashion is all about. It takes one idea for the design to speak out.
