Proenza Schouler: Color Blocks

There has been one collection I’ve been waiting for all Resort season and that was Proenza Schouler. Not only because they gave me a shout out via twitter but because I seriously obsessed over their PS1 bags. Both designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough create what might be the best ready-to-wear collections in New York from their urban influence but also timeless pieces. Recently they just received the highly coveted CFDA womenswear of the year award and the resort collection has been a must see among fashion goers.

This collection pays homage to what the designer duo know best; cropped jackets, flowing blouses and day dresses. They presented the collection against a mineral brick background which gave an underground feel to the collection. There were some looks that I had to really look twice at, I was a bit skeptical over the two different color button up blouse and dress which made me think back to previous Lanvin spring collection. The accessories are a huge part of Proenza Schouler with the iconic PS1 bags but also the seasonal PS11 that were shown in this collection. The chunky Navajo inspired necklace and leather wedges seem to be a must for fashionable women. There have been several recurring themes among the resort collections, the color orange has been a must among the collections but the duo plays with the idea of color blocks which hasn't been shown. Their previous Navajo inspired fall collection made big impact among retailers and we still see it in this collection with the Navajo sweaters and bag designs.
